Lee Hooker is a poet and nonfiction writer originating from East Tennessee. He is a current student at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a two-time recipient of the English Department’s Endowed Scholarship in Poetry. He is also published in their undergraduate creative journal (The Sequoya Review) and in their literary criticism undergraduate journal (The Quill).
Lee’s works speak to his Southern and transgender identities, grappling with the mental strain of your home becoming unsafe while simultaneously attempting to define and capture masculinity.
Lee plans to graduate in Spring 2025, and his thesis “Boxed In: Prose Poetry and Transgender Poetics” is set to be published through UTC.
